Lymphoma Research Foundation News Room:
SGN-35 Receives FDA Fast Track Designation
On Monday, March 30, 2009 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted fast track designation to SGN-35 for the treatment of Hodgkin lymphoma. SGN-35 is an antibody-drug conjugate that includes an anti-CD30 antibody.
Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), also known as Hodgkin disease, is a type of cancer that arises from abnormal lymphocytes. Hodgkin lymphomas are rare, accounting for less than 1 percent of all cases of cancer in the United States. Hodgkin lymphoma has been studied more than any other type of lymphoma. The result of those studies has lead to rapid advances in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease, and over 80 percent of patients with Hodgkin lymphoma are cured.
