Red Sox To Receive Lymphoma Research Foundation Hope Award
In Commemoration of Sixth Annual World Lymphoma Awareness Day

Boston, MA . . .  In recognition of the Red Sox's ongoing commitment raise public awareness about lymphoma, members of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) will present the team with the Foundation's inaugural Hope Award at Fenway Park on World Lymphoma Awareness Day (WLAD) Tuesday, September 15, prior to the team's game against the Los Angeles Anaheim Angels.

The Lymphoma Research Foundation Hope Award was recently developed to honor individuals, corporations and organizations that steadfastly recognize the need to raise public awareness of what is the most common form of blood cancer and the third most common childhood cancer. The Red Sox were chosen as the first recipients due to their support of the Massachusetts chapter and annual participation in WLAD.

In addition to the award presentation, members of LRF's Massachusetts Chapter will be at Gate A to distribute information on WLAD and LRF. The Red Sox will have scoreboard messages, will host the recently released LRF video and have other information on its official website, redsox.com.

WLAD was launched by the international Lymphoma Coalition in 2004 to provide a platform for doctors, nurses, patient support groups, patients and their families to share vital knowledge about lymphoma, its signs and symptoms, and how it affects lives of thousands of people around the world.

The Lymphoma Research Foundation, a founding member of the Lymphoma Coalition, is the nation's largest voluntary health organization devoted exclusively to funding lymphoma research and providing patients and healthcare professionals with critical information on the disease. LRF's mission is to eradicate lymphoma and serve those touched by this disease.

For more information about LRF, lymphoma or WLAD, individuals can visit LRF's website at www.lymphoma.org or call (800) 235-6848.
