Through this program, LRF may be able to assist with quality-of-life expenses. Cancer Financial Assistance Coalition CFAC is a coalition of financial assistance organizations that have joined forces to help cancer patientes experience better health and well-being by limiting financial challenges. CFAC has developed a searchable, user-friendly database of financial resources for cancer patients. Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation Emergency funding and transportation are among the services provided. Department of Social Services Department of Veteran Affairs Eligible veterans and their dependents may receive cancer treatment at a Veterans Administration Medical Center. GiveForward Healthwell Foundation A non-profit organization established to address the needs of individuals who cannot afford their insurance co-payments, premiums, co-insurance or other out of pocket healthcare costs. Hill-Burton Free Hospital Care The Division of Facilities Compliance and Recovery monitor's facilities nationwide that receive federal funds under the Hill-Burton Program for modernization/construction, and in return are required to provide a specific amount of free or reduced-cost health care to people who are unable to pay. This office provides information to the public on the location of these facilities and income eligibility criteria. National Foundation of Transplants (NFT) NFT assists patients, their families and friends in raising significant amounts of money for the patient's transplant care when there is no public or private insurance that will cover all the costs. -See Transplant Information & Support section for complete listing. National Transplant Assistance Fund (NTAF) NTAF is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing fundraising assistance to families incurring financial challenges due to an organ/tissue transplant and to promoting organ donor awareness. NTAF also provides a newsletter, New Start News. Needy Meds NeedyMeds is a non-profit information resource devoted to helping people in need find assistance programs to help them afford their medications and costs related to health care. They also offer a free drug discount card that may help you obtain a substantially lower price on your medications. This card can be used instead of insurance or by anyone without insurance. Partnership for Prescription Assistance The Partnership for Prescription Assistance offers a single point of access to more than 475 public and private patient assistance programs, including more than 150 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies. Patients can be screened for eligibility and begin enrollment applications for medication assistance programs by calling the phone number or visiting the website. Patient Access Network Patient Advocate Foundation The Patient Advocate Foundation is a national non-profit organization that serves as an active liaison between the patient and their insurer, employer or creditors to resolve insurance, job discrimination or debt crisis matters related to their diagnosis through case managers, doctors and attorneys. A special program offers financial assistance to lymphoma patients who need help with co-pays for drugs that treat lymphoma, anemia (low red blood cell counts) and neutropenia (low white blood cell counts). Call Counselors assist patients with the application process. Patients may receive up to $4,000 per year. Funds are limited and become available on the first of each month, so patients applying at this time have the best chance of receiving help. Patients may be reimbursed for previous expenses up to one year from grant award date. Social Security Administration (SSA) SSA is a government agency that oversees the Social Security, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicare programs. Social Security provides a monthly income for eligible elderly and disabled individuals. SSI supplements Social Security payments for individuals who have certain income and resource levels. Medicare is a federal heath insurance program for those who are 65 or older, people of any age with permanent kidney failure, and disabled people under age 65 who have received Social Security payments for at least 24 months. Contact the SSA to get information on eligibility and coverage and to find out how to apply to any of these programs. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) offers a limited amount of financial assistance to help individuals with significant financial need who are under a doctor's care for a confirmed blood cancer diagnosis. Reimbursement are processed through your local chapter and payments are issued directly to you. LLS also offers a Co-Pay Assistance Program. Please contact LLS for further detailed information regarding their programs. United Way of America The United Way of America offers local toll-free information lines linking people to community resources and services, such as emergency housing and food assistance.
Industry Sponsored Financial Assistance ProgramsAmgen Amgen Assist offers information on ways to help pay out-of-pocket expenses either through Amgen-supported programs or independent nonprofit co-pay foundations. Amgen also offer assistance to uninsured patients who may be eligible for products at no cost through The Safety Net Foundation and the ENcourage Foundation® . Allos Therapeutics ASAP is a program designed to provide tools to help make reimbursement easy to understand and more manageable. Services include benefit investigations, pre-authorizations, pre-determinations, appeals, drug replacement, alternative sources of coverage, and finding co-pay assistance. Celgene The Celgene Patient Support Coordinator (PSC) Program helps patients and healthcare providers navigate the challenges of reimbursement, provide information about co-pay assistance, and answer general questions about Celgene products and their distribution. Centocor Ortho Biotech Inc. Both DOXILine and Procrit Line provides access to reimbursement information and support—patient assistance program to patients without insurance coverage (based on financial need); access to insurance guidelines for private, federal, and state plans; verification of insurance coverage; and, coding and billing assistance. Cephalon CORE services offer help to patients and healthcare professional through providing resources aimed at clarifying issues and assisting with the claims process. Specific assistance includes benefit verification and coverage determination, policy benefits and limitations, personalized support through the claims process, and appeals support. In addition, Cephalon Oncology offers a Patient Assistance Program to provide FDA-approved products free of charge for patients who qualify. Eisai Inc. The Eisai Reimbursement Assistance Program provides patient assistance and reimbursement support for Ontak and Targretin. A customer service representative will assist with Eisai product information, patient assistance programs for uninsured and indigent patients, reimbursement questions, prior authorizations, insurance verifications, referral to co-pay assistance programs, billing/coding questions, appeal assistance, and referral to disease-state assistance programs. Genentech BioOncology Genentech Access Solutions provides one-stop access to a broad array of reimbursement information, and support and services for patients so that they can focus on treatment. In addition to providing information about co-pay assistance through independent public charities, Genentech Access Solutions can also help with common reimbursement challenges, insurance appeals and coverage denials, and referrals to the Genentech Access to Care Foundation. Lilly Lilly Oncology’s Patient One program provides individualized treatment support that addresses financial, access, and claim issues for patients who are candidates for Lilly’s oncology products. Merck Oncology This private and confidential program provides medicine free of charge to eligible individuals, primarily the uninsured who, without our assistance, could not afford needed Merck medicines. Individuals who don’t meet the insurance criteria may still qualify for the Merck Patient Assistance Program if they attest that they have special circumstances of financial and medical hardship, and their income meets the program criteria. Merk also offers the ACT Program which provides free reimbursement support services to help answer questions related to insurance coverage and reimbursement. Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company Millennium has developed a reimbursement resource website as a tool to help physicians understand the healthcare insurance environment for Velcade. This website provides general guidance regarding steps to support appropriate reimbursement and patient access to Velcade treatment.
