Proceedings from the seventh annual Mantle Cell Lymphoma Consortium (MCLC) Scientific Workshop, which included 32 oral presentations, have been published in the January 2011 issue of the journal Leukemia & Lymphoma. Ordinarily not available to the public, a copy of this report was made available to the public on the journal’s website during February. Presentation topics included clinical research in MCL, cellular therapy, new molecular targets, micro RNAs, chemoimmunotherapy, transplantation, cellular therapy and pathogenesis.

The aim of this workshop, held in March 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia, was to accelerate advances made in the field of MCL by creating a forum in which to share data, exchange ideas, foster collaboration within the MCL research community and identify and prioritize areas of clinical and translational research that will have the largest impact.

“It is an honor to have highlights from the Lymphoma Research Foundation’s Mantle Cell Lymphoma Consortium published in such a renowned scientific journal as Leukemia & Lymphoma,” said Michael Williams, MD, MCLC Immediate Past Chair and Director, Hematologic Malignancy Program – Hematology/Oncology Division, University of Virginia Health System, Charlottesville. “As researchers continue to press forward toward the goal of eradicating MCL, the Lymphoma Research Foundation’s Mantle Cell Lymphoma Consortium will prove vital to the advancement of treatment options for those living with MCL.”

The next MCL Scientific Workshop will be held in Crystal City, Virginia March 10-11, 2011.
