Grants and Awards: Advancing the Cutting Edge
Funding fuels clinical research, the vital engine that drives progress in the treatment of lymphoma. Through research, clinicians and scientists are constantly learning more about the causes of cancer and its development. Each advance in understanding brings new ideas for ways to combat the disease. New treatments result from multiple phases of clinical testing, starting in a Petri dish (where lymphoma cells can be cultured and exposed to possible therapeutic agents), then in animals, and finally in human beings. It is a long, difficult, and expensive process.
LRF is proud to have funded more than $40 million in lymphoma research as of June 30, 2009 in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
