Public Policy and Advocacy Tool Kit
The Lymphoma Research Foundation's (LRF) on-line advocacy tool kit provides advocates with the resources necessary to garner attention and support for the issues most important to the lymphoma community.
LRF Advocacy Activity of the Month
November
Communicating with our elected officials can have a profound effect on public policy. LRF advocates, chapter members and volunteers are in a unique position to provide legislators with their expertise and knowledge of lymphoma, the needs of the greater cancer community, and even the U.S. health care system.
This month, LRF advocates are invited to reach out to their members of Congress, in support of an important legislative initiative. Advocates are asked to write or call their Representative and two Senators and ask them to co-sponsor the Comprehensive Cancer Care Improvement Act (CCCIA). Introduced by Reps. Lois Capps (CA) and Charles Boustany (LA) in the House of Representatives and Sen. Mary Landrieu (LA) in the Senate, this bill would encourage health care providers to develop treatment plans so that cancer patients and their loved ones can understand their treatment options, navigate the cancer care system, and access resources to support them throughout their treatment.
The LRF Advocacy Action Center features support materials to assist advocates as they prepare to place a phone call or send an e-mail message or letter to their members of Congress in support of the CCCIA.
LRF is committed to advocating on behalf of the entire lymphoma community, working collaboratively with policymakers, the medical community, patient advocates and other stakeholders at the state and federal levels to advance legislative, regulatory and programmatic efforts that will improve the lives of lymphoma patients and survivors.
