How You Can Light it Red for Lymphoma

To commemorate National Blood Cancer Awareness Month (September) and World Lymphoma Awareness Day (September 15), the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) encourages individuals, buildings, landmarks and businesses to shed a light on lymphoma – not only to raise awareness about this type of blood cancer, but also to give hope to those who have been affected by this disease.  Join the Lymphoma Research Foundation to Light it Red for Lymphoma!

In the Workplace

  • Become a Lighting Partner by lighting your building, restaurant, store of office red using red bulbs, red gel filters, or red balloons and decorations on September 15 or during the month of September
  • Have a dress down/wear red day on World Lymphoma Awareness Day (September 15) and share on social media with #LightItRed
  • Download the Light it Red for Lymphoma Awareness and Fundraising Guide to give to employees and hand out in a public location
  • Download our “LIR Selfie Sign,” take a picture and post it on social media with #LightItRed
  • Promote Light it Red for Lymphoma on social media using #LightItRed and inform followers of lighting days and events
  • Print menus on red paper and feature the Light it Red for Lymphoma logo prominently with a message about LRF
  • Become a Light it Red for Lymphoma Sponsor

 

In Schools, Universities and Medical Centers

  • Become a Lighting Partner by lighting your building, classroom or campus red using red bulbs, red gel filters, or red balloons and decorations

  • Visit a Light it Red for Lymphoma Lighting Partner in your area, take a photo and share on social media using #LightItRed
  • Wear red on World Lymphoma Awareness Day (September 15) and share photos on social media using #LightItRed
  • Add a 2017 Light it Red for Lymphoma frame to your Facebook profile picture, live video or story
  • Download our “LIR Selfie Sign,” take a picture and post it on social media with #LightItRed
  • Share lymphoma facts and infographics on social media

 

Fundraising Ideas

  • Make a donation in honor of lymphoma patients, survivors and their loved ones
  • Plan a workplace giving event the month of September
  • Businesses, schools, universities and medical centers can join Team LRF and sell “LRF” lapel pins to raise funds (email teamlrf@lymphoma.org to learn more)
  • Coordinate a one-time event like a red bake sale or happy hour fundraiser on World Lymphoma Awareness Day (September 15)
  • Ask customers to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar at checkout and donate the proceeds to the Lymphoma Research Foundation
  • Feature a red drink or food item, or have a “Dish of the Month,” and have a percentage of the sales benefit the Lymphoma Research Foundation
  • Share your fundraising results with LRF on social media using #LightItRed or email LIR@lymphoma.org
