Foundation to Host Annual Wine Tasting Fundraising Event at La Gorce Country Club in Miami Beach, Florida

National Partner Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits to Present  Hot Wine Trends of 2019 at La Gorce Country Club

Miami Beach, Fla. (March, 7, 2019) – The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – will host the sixth annual Swirl: A Wine Tasting Event at La Gorce Country Club in Miami Beach on March 19.

National Swirl Series Sponsors AbbVie, Genentech, and Verastem Oncology will join national Wine Sponsor Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits to present attendees with a diverse selection of world class wines. Attendees can also expect delicious hors d’oeuvres to complement the tasting, as well as an exciting silent auction. The tasting theme this year is Hot Wine Trends of 2019, featuring emerging wine trends from lesser known countries and appellations.

“As the national Wine Sponsor of the Swirl Series, I have been privileged to participate in this event, which pairs an appreciation of fine wines with a commitment to supporting LRF,” said Eric Hemer, Senior VP and Director of Wine Education at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, Master Sommelier, Master of Wine and Certified Wine Educator. “I have also greatly enjoyed witnessing the shared efforts of the Miami community to support the LRF in their mission to fund the research that will one day cure lymphoma, as well as serve and educate all those impacted by lymphoma.”

For the second year, Swirl: Miami will feature an innovative Young Professionals Committee, featuring area young professionals Sam Halpern, Nick Levin, Zach Stein and Simone Weissman.

“As a young professional here in Miami, it’s very important for me to raise awareness about lymphoma, a disease that impacts more people in the adolescent and young adult community than most realize,” said Simone Stein, REALTOR-Associate and Luxury Property Specialist at the Nancy Batchelor Team, EWM Realty International. “I’m honored to be involved for the second year as a member of the Young Professionals Committee and help raise funds to bring us closer to a cure.”

This year’s Swirl Host Committee members are Nina and Walter Andrews, Debbie and Kevin Fennessey, Barbara and Jerry Freundlich, Midge and Mark Halpern, Leigh and Cory Olson, and Florence and Bob Werner.  Leigh and Cory Olson are also the Premier Sponsor for Swirl: Miami.

“Each year I’m honored to return to Miami as part of the Swirl series, as it’s a crucial part of our efforts to raise funds to further research and advocacy for the lymphoma community,” said Meghan Gutierrez, LRF Chief Executive Officer. “It’s incredible to join the Miami community for this event to witness firsthand the dedication the Miami community has to LRF’s mission. We are grateful for the contributions of the Swirl Host Committee members and our national sponsors who allow us to enjoy this event each year.”
